Fragged Academy

Session One: O-Week!

The new students arrive to the academy!

They are greeted by Ms Visa Kardashian and given a tour of the facility.
(Features include the School Marketplace, the Synthetic Gardens, Class rooms, Laboratories and Combat Dojos.)
Ms Visa also reveals that they will be grouped by her personal patented psychological algorithm that will ensure maximum ‘results’.

Mr Fendi Hilton takes Decimus Aelus, Hepzibah and Disney Murdoch on their own tour elsewhere.

Erien reveals that he has no last name because he is considered “culturally dead” to his family, Ish and Arthur struggle to relate to each other due to racial pressures. Toyota Jackson offers to assist the others in understanding Corp lifestyle.

The Squad meet the Turnbull Twins, they reveal they are from Alabaster One. This means things to Toyota.

The Squad attend the Assembly, where Mistress Exxon Stein offers them her ‘Business Mission’ and expresses that each student is a personal investment of hers.

The students move on to dinner, where tables show that cliques are beginning to form:

Keyana Ley-Walker confronts Erian, but upon learning that he has no last name, she still publicly accepts him.
Hanabi_8530 cloaks and stealths to listen in on the PC’s conversation. She then reveals herself and offers some Palantor philosophy.

Session ends with Arthur being called to the infirmary by Dr Pandora

Session Two: Live and Learn

Communal living for the students begins to wear, hierarchies are established in the communal bunks with the notable features:
-Twi-Far students are sent to the end (awful night-light people)
-Alabaster One kids sleep up front
-Although being Legion offers her better status, Atia Daxus sleeps at the end bunking with Keyana Ley-Walker
-As a result, Decimus Aelus gets a bunk to himself
-Qehtah is placed above his station, bunking with Versace Branson
-Hanabi_8530 does not take a bunk, she powers down by the wall
-Toyota Jackson and Disney Murdoch ignore their ‘elevated’ Corp status and sleep towards the end

Communal_Sleeping.jpg

Atia’s military upbringing brings her to odds with Erien and his ‘bohemian’ lifestyle. Ish notices Ghaluzo and Hebzibah acting ‘coupley’ but reads it as them ‘behaving like the Corps do’.
Ish tires of Erien’s pulsing glow and tries to drug him into sedation. This isn’t well received.

Squads are announced at the end of the week! And are as follows:

The Turnbull Twins are none too pleased at being separated, and threaten legal action. Ms Visa Kardashian swiftly silences them, reminding them of their contractual obligations.

The Squads are shown to their dorms, Opal Squad discuss their scheduled sparring match vs Diamond Squad. Should they tactically throw the match?

That afternoon, it is announced that Emerald Squad will be matched in a sparring match against Ruby Squad.
It is a tight match, but Emerald manage to take the win.
-Keyana’s Faren emanates as a swarm of motes of light, harassing her opponents
-Atia is a fist fighter, but also a medic
-Sony has an effective Assault Rifle
-Isaiah uses an ElectroGrav Gauntlet to control the field

-Casio seemed frustrated there were no robotic drones to hack
-Reebok seemed to be ‘phoning in’ the match
-Hepzibah’s Nephilm beast harries her foes
-Decimus has a large personal supply of grenades

Session Two point Five: Opal vs Diamond!

Before the Match—

Opal Squad discuss tactics and how to go about things.

There is a knock on the door, and Evian Franklin has stopped by to greet them and wish them luck. She smiles like a shark and pleasantly points out how she finds Toyota‘s skin markings strange. She soon leaves after her ’well wishes’.
The Squad suspect something is up, so they search the room. It turns out she places a listening device on the outside of their door, they then have a conversation of bogus information to throw Diamond off.
Arthur Glamour decides to spy on them by crawling through the air ducts. Whilst he is scuttling through, he spots the back of Ghaluzo also using the airducts, coming from the direction of the Ruby Squad quarters…
After returning, the squad head off so Arthur could report what he saw.

Game On!—

Arthur deploys smoke grenades (yielding mixed results), but stealth is still not possible due to Qehtah’s Multispectral Visor

Evian’s prototype gun (named ‘Ambition’) seems to be launching Ion globes that explode upon impact. She shores herself up behind crates, sealing her cover with her burst shield.

Whilst Evian seems to be the Squad leader, Qehtah is observed to be supplying tactical advice to the team, raising his threat priority. The ‘pacifist’ certainly does not object to his squad mates causing harm, he also carries aerosol sedatives with his medkit.

Pepsi Reagan’s Drones seem quite formidable, but due to a tactical blunder, all three swarms are disabled as they surrounded Arthur and are blasted by his explosive shield nodes.

Perhaps due to some unknown grudge, Ish makes attacking Qehtah a priority, in a shot of extreme skill (or luck) Ish takes Qehtah out with one perfectly aimed headshot.

Toyota manoeuvres around the back, sending her drone swarm ahead. The smoke and chaos making it hard for her to lock on with her combat computer.

Versace stays back, lining up shots from his puncture rifle with calm discipline.

Erien advances and returns fire at Evian with his Faren blasts, but she is too protected to gain a solid hit.

With Arthur and Erien close together, Evian finds it more effective to blast the floor between them, catching them in her Ion explosions.

Pepsi is able to lock-on to Toyota’s drone, allowing Versace to disable the swarm with worrying efficiency

Arthur moves onto Pepsi, as even though he is unseen, Evian’s blast radius is proving too hazardous.

Evian begins to show her ruthless ambition, targeting Pepsi, knowing that she will harm Arthur in the process, but perhaps cause more harm to Pepsi.

She cements it as Arthur changed target to Versace she continued to assault her own squad, as long as it might yield victory over the Opal Squad’s Kaltoran. Arthur eventually falls under the relentless Ion explosions.

With Arthur gone, the smoke is proving more of a hindrance than a tactical advantage, so Toyota sets out to find the vent control panel, to clear the haze from the battlefield.

Ish sends their bio-drone to distract Versace, but he seems to know that the creature is harmless, despite Opal’s planted mis-information.

The Vents whirr to life and the smoke is cleared away, taking the moment, Erien fires two Faren-blasts into Versace’s chest and throat, putting down the formidable student.

Seeing his Squad so disabled, Pepsi steps out of cover and surrenders. To say Evian is displeased would be an understatement…

Victory for Opal! Unconscious students are taken to Medbay. Evian is furious, but congratulates Opal on their win.

After the Fray—

With Arthur in Medbay, the rest of the squad return to their Dorm, upon entering, Erien notices, a geode from his personal rock collection is missing….
Ish observes that the vent shaft has been accessed after Arthur’s previous scout…

Stay tuned for Session Three!!!

- Juicy does recon through the air vents and discovers Diamond squad have had a theft too.
- Messages are sent to Ruby and Emerald and they also had things stolen during their combat missions.
- Sapphire become suspects.
- Toyota tries to hack Sapphire’s dorm terminal, and finds it heavily guarded by Hanabi’s software.
- Toyota requests Ms Revlon Bettencourt show them the security footage but she says she cannot. She implies that there is more to the situation than there seems.
- Opal meet with Ruby to theorise who did it and why.
- Toyota meets with Ms Visa Kardashian and she seems very pleased that Opal are looking into the matter.
- The squad split to investigate the storage lockers that could contain the stolen goods and to the computer labs, where Toyota could hack into the security footage.
- Toyota and Ish discover it is indeed Sapphire squad, each member stealing something symbolic of the rival team. Erien and Arthur find that only one storage unit is being used, paid for by Bentley Turnbull.
- Returning the belongings to the other teams, Opal are regarded as a force for justice by the other students (+1 Influence!)

Session 4: Now a word from our sponsors...

- Class schedule is up! A week or two passes and quickly establishes hierarchies among the separate subjects of those who outperform their peers.
- Ish is enraged at the Academy’s lack of regard for the discipline of BioTech.
- During a cafeteria break, Ms Esther Yolo is handing around free cans of Draz™. The majority of the student population accept the strange beverage (Toyota refuses, seeming to know a bit more than the others). In less than an hour, the effect begin to show…
- The student base become very stimulated, an impromptu party is called in the cafeteria.
- Evian contacts the Opal squad, she is somewhat dishevelled and has been working on a ‘project’, it appears to be a hideous scrap book page, placing Evian in amongst Opal squad in a prominent (and larger) position. Garish stickers and digital print effects adorn the borders of the picture.
- On the way to the party, Evian and Erien sneak away to have a torrid Draz fuelled tryst.
- Ish and Hepzibah perform a strange ‘dance’ they learned from the birthing tubes of Eden.
- It is discovered that the Academy will be embarking on their first excursion to a secret location…

Session 5: Destination – Mishpacha

- The students board the Babel Transport vessel for the four day journey to the jungle planet.
- Sleeping hierarchies are re-established with the upper deck and lower deck sleeping arrangements.
- Pepsi is found in the lower decks, ferrying messages for Evian to Toyota and others. When questioned why he allows her to boss him around, he insists it’s easier this way. He refuses to pass a message for Ish.
- Qetah visits Ish, and they chat in High Xion. The sound is quite unpleasant, especially to Arthur.
- Squads begin to be called by teaching staff, to be briefed on their planet-side missions. The squads, missions and teachers are as follows:

  • Opal – Ichabod Fleek – Kaltoran Outpost has gone silent and aggressive. Request for investigation and assistance.
  • Diamond – Visa Kardashian – Wild Nephilm hunt. Combat and tracking intensive mission.
  • Ruby – Shondassa Babel – Disabling a fort/trading hub operated by Corp pirates and disgraced Legion. Recon and Sabotage mission.
  • Emerald – Revlon Bettencourt – Diplomacy to ensure contractual relationship with non-Corp trading group based on Mishpacha. Business and Diplomacy.
  • Sapphire – Fendi Hilton – Enter a wild Nephilm nest and steal an egg sac. Stealth with minimal combat.
    - Being the only native to Mishpacha in the school, the students question Ghaluzo on what the jungle planet is like. He informs them that the planet was aggressively terraformed in the Great War by the invading Nephilm, so the flora and fauna are designed to end sentient life. This has been moderately successful, but the value of natural resources on the planet has skyrocketed as a result.
    - Squads are sent to shuttles, as the missions are spread across the continent. Erien requests permission to pilot the shuttle, much to Ish’s dismay. Mr Fleek allows it after he pilots the vessel out of the hangar bay. Erien shows himself to be a very competent pilot, entering atmosphere and landing the craft deftly.
    - In the Kaltoran Outpost of Prospero, one of the colonists has dire news for Arthur. His family has been slaughtered and his presence is requested back on Kadash. The message was a few weeks old as the Babel Academy was refusing to pass it on when he was upon the station. He leaves in the dark of night, leaving only a message to his squad.
    - Ichabod Fleek is furious, both at Mistress Exxon for concealing the message, and at Prospero for hiding their intentions.

Session 6: Love thy neighbour

- Toyota expresses concerns to Mr Ichabod Fleek about how the squad is disadvantaged by losing Arthur, so they are set up with Job Totes to act as a guide for the squad in the hazardous perils of Mishpacha.
- Job helps them navigate the jungle to the Sycorax Outpost, Toyota and Job sneak ahead to perform recon.
- Job offers to build a trap to catch a patrolling Kaltoran. Job has never made a trap before in his life and his trap is terrible.
- After some corrections, the trap is successful! The patroller is apprehended and Ish studies the captive. It is discovered that there are traces of fungal spores in her nostrils. As the squad debates whether they should take the captive back to Prospero for more detailed study, the encampment is surrounded and outnumbered by the Sycorax residents.
- The squad is captured and disarmed (mostly) and placed in holding cells within the Outpost.
- Ish overhears the residents speaking to each other in Primal Xion, they also appear to be acting in some sort of hive mind.
- Toyota overrides the containment system of her cell and is able to free Job too, they sneak around the room to hack the other cells and retrieve their weapons.
- As the students break free, the Kaltorans open fire, forcing the students to retreat further into the facility, they come upon the research centre where huge fungal growths are attached to the wall, “feeding” a Kaltoran who is inhaling the spores.
- After some combat, Erien leveled two energy blasts into the centre of the growth, dispatching the fungal creature, Toyota accesses the security feeds and discovers there is greater growth in the main Laboratory. Three Kaltorans were trapped in the growths, the fungus piercing their flesh and bone as they were being changed into something… else.
- Ish begins negotiations in broken Primal Xion, acting as a distraction, whilst Toyota sneaks into the ducts above the Lab to start an electrical fire. Erien notices however, during negotiations, the fungal cluster is summoning lesser fungal growths to surround the intruding students.
- In an effort to align the correct wires to ignite and fuel the flame, Toyota’s shoe gets tangled in the wires, dislodging a structural brace in the duct, causing it to dislodge, hanging perilously over the fungal cluster.
- “BETRAYAL!” shrieks the fungal beast! The fungal servitors begin to attack, Erien and Job fending them off as Toyota struggles to survive and start the fire.
- Crisis does not show mercy to Toyota as she continues to hang on for dear life, but is unable to start the electrical reaction. She abandons her shoe to escape the duct and the rising spore cloud from the fungal cluster.
- Dispatching his fungal beast, Job is able to crawl into the ducts, using his mechanical training to finish the job Toyota started.
The fire is started and the fungal cluster screams through the three mouths of its captive -
- Kaltorans as it dies. The remaining Kaltorans in the Outpost collapse; suddenly released from their hive mind control.
- In the aftermath, Toyota negotiates a very generous reward, having saved many lives of the remaining Kaltorans of Sycorax Outpost. +2 Resources! And their competency is becoming more known. +1 Influence!
